Due to a significant water main break in our Broad Mountain System, customers may experience temporary discolored water. Due to the size of the break and the amount of water loss the system was significantly disrupted causing the potential for discolored water. Please be advised that customers will be directly contacted if they are required to boil their water.

SCMA Celebrates 190th Anniversary

Today, April 11, 2024, the Schuylkill County Municipal Authority celebrates a significant milestone of 190 years in business! On this day, in 1834, the Articles of Incorporation of the Pottsville Water Company were executed. We are extremely humbled and proud to celebrate this anniversary with our dedicated staff, who continues to work around the clock to provide the most valuable asset of an abundant, clean, fresh supply of drinking water and fire protection to our Schuylkill County Customers.

SCMA Awarded Federal Funding

Schuylkill County Municipal Authority  is proud to report; U.S. Congressman Dan Meuser (R-9) announced $2.75 Million in federal funding for the Mount Laurel Interconnect Project. The project will connect the Mahanoy Township Authority and Schuylkill County Municipal Authority systems to address essential needs for supplemental drinking water and fire protection.

SCMA’s Patrick Caulfield & Amy Batdorf receive PaWARN’s Prestigious 2023 Gold Star Award

Schuylkill County Municipal Authority’s Executive Director Patrick Caulfield and Assistant Executive Director Amy Batdorf, both recently received the 2023 PaWARN (Pennsylvania Water/Wastewater Agency Response Network) Gold Star Award in recognition of their exceptional commitment to emergency response and their dedication to mutual aid by utilizing PaWARN during the Mt. Laurel Emergency in the fall of 2022 that affected two State Correctional Institutions.

PennVest Loan Awarded to SCMA

PennVest Loan Awarded to SCMA

Schuylkill County Municipal Authority was awarded a loan to construct a second water storage tank at the Broad Mountain Water Filtration and Treatment Facility in New Castle Township. The new tank will provide additional water storage, improving the ability of the municipal authority to prevent interruptions in water service in case of emergencies or required maintenance.

SCMA Awarded Grant and Loan for replacementof Lead Service Lines and Water mains in City of Pottsville
In 2023, SCMA was awarded a $5.24 million dollar grant, and offered a $3.44 million dollar low-interest loan service lines and watermains on portions of West Race Street, West Pierce Street, and Fairview Street in City of Pottsville

DROUGHT WATCH REMAINS FOR SCHUYLKILL COUNTY
Following a meeting of the Commonwealth Drought Task Force today, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is maintaining a statewide drought watch. While not required, residents and non-farm businesses are encouraged to voluntarily conserve water by reducing their nonessential water use.

DROUGHT WATCH ISSUED FOR SCHUYLKILL COUNTY
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has issued a drought watch for Schuylkill County. SCMA is asking ALL customers to conserve water by reducing individual water use by 3-6 gallons a day.
