Schuylkill County Municipal Authority (SCMA) is seeking motivated individuals wishing to pursue a career in the Water and Wastewater Treatment Industry.  Experience in the operation and maintenance of water treatment facilities and / or sanitary sewer collection systems is a plus.

 

  • Wastewater Collection Operator – Wastewater Division – 2 Positions

SCMA is seeking motivated applicants with experience in the operation and maintenance of sanitary sewer collection and pumping stations, individual customer grinder pumps, mechanical/electrical/control troubleshooting and repair, sewer jetting equipment, and/or other industry related equipment. Qualified applicants must possess a High School Diploma and a valid PA Driver’s License. PADEP Certified Wastewater License and experience in the wastewater maintenance field are preferred. Successful candidates must be safety oriented, self-motivated, and display a positive attitude. These positions require on-call duties.

 

               

 

  • Wastewater Operator – Wastewater Division

A successful Wastewater Operator will have mechanical aptitude, strong communication skills, computer literacy, and education in a science related field.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, operation and maintenance of six (6) Wastewater Treatment Plants, multiple pumping stations and accessories.  The successful candidate must demonstrate the skills to work in a team environment as well as an independent setting. This position requires rotating weekend, holiday, and on-call duties.

Qualified applicants must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and a valid PA Driver’s License.  PADEP Certified Water / Wastewater Operator License and experience in the wastewater maintenance field are preferred.  The Authority is willing to train qualified candidates.  Successful candidates must be safety oriented, self-motivated and have a positive mindset.  These positions require on-call duties.

 

  • Meter Technician – Distribution and Collection Division

A successful Meter Technician will have mechanical aptitude, strong communication skills, computer literacy, and education in a related field.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Installation, removal, tracking, and reading of water meters and radio read boxes throughout SCMA’s system. 
  • Shut off and turn on water service to SCMA customers. 
  • In coordination with the billing clerk, the collection of water meter data to enable SCMA to bill for water usage.  
  • In coordination with the collections department, the posting of delinquent notices on properties.
  • In coordination with the Office Manager, consultations with commercial and industrial customers on replacement of water meters 1” or greater in size.

Qualified applicants must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and a valid PA Driver’s License.  Experience with water meter installation, plumbing and related technical fields is preferred.  The Authority is willing to train qualified candidates.  Successful candidates must be safety oriented, self-motivated and have a positive mindset.  These positions require on-call duties.

 

  • Utility Line Locator – Distribution and Collection Division

This position will be primarily responsible for Act 50 (PA 1 Call Law) compliance and related tasks. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining knowledge of Act 50 (PA 1-Call Law), including updates, and must be capable of completing PA 1-Call requests.
  • Accurately locate and properly marking of underground utilities.
  • Ability to utilize maps, drawings, sketches, and other records such as GIS (Geographic Information system).
  • Operation and maintenance of utility locating equipment.
  • Professionally communicate with co-workers, customers, contractors, first responders, other utility representatives, and members of the general public.
  • Maintain knowledge of Penn DOT regulations as it relates to traffic control.
  • Proficient use of electronics such as computer, tablet, phone, etc.
  • Attend meetings and trainings as required.
  • Response to after hour emergencies.
  • Operation of equipment such as hand and power tools. 
  • May perform other utility related work as assigned.

Qualified applicants must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and a valid PA Driver’s License.  Experience with utility line location and the PA One Call System is preferred. The Authority is willing to train quality individuals. Successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.  This position requires on-call duties.
